Lead is a metal that is found in the Earth and is relatively easy to come by. It is usually mined and is easily found with other ores and minerals. Lead is shiny and corroded and used to be used in paints and caulks to help give a better color. It is also used in the vests people wear when they go for X-ray scanning. Since lead is very dense, the X-rays have no way of harming the body with their radiation. Lead can be harmful to the human body if it is either consumed or somehow enters your bloodstream. The reason manufacturers stopped using lead in their products is because when paint chips with lead in it and an ignorant child comes to check it out, the child might consume it. This can be bad to the growth of the child. Lead is not just a concern for children, it also a concern for adults but it is not as bad because their bodies are fully developed. There are some rumors that state that lead may be carcinogenic but there is not enough evidence to prove the rumors right. Either way lead should not be consumed or even played with if there is no reason to as it could potentially harm your body.
